License Information

NOTICE: Our online vendor to purchase licenses is no longer in service. Please stay tuned as we make preparations for a new online purchase system.

It is required by Island County to license your pet per code 6.08.20. Additionally, by licensing your pet, you improve the chances of getting your pet back should they become lost. It quickly identifies your pet to get him or her safely back to you. Licensing also lets people know that your pet is up-to-date on rabies vaccinations and can be safely handled and cared for as a rabies vaccination is required to license your pet. Licenses expire at the end of the calendar year in which they were purchased. For example, if you purchase your license in January 2017, the license expires December 2017. If you purchase a license in November 2017, it will expire December 2017.

WAIF works hard to ensure you are adopting a healthy companion animal. We do, however, encourage you to take your new pet to your veterinarian as soon as possible for a complete physical. If you are ready to adopt, please view our available cats or dogs. If you are planning to visit the shelter from off-island, we strongly recommend that you contact the shelter in advance of any visit to secure any updates or changes on the shelter and animals available for adoption.
